FREE Medicine Usage Reviews

This is a medicine check-up service, which is useful if you regularly take several prescription medicines or are on medicines for a long term illness. This confidential service will help you to find out more about your medicines, identify any problems you may be having with them and help you to take your medicines to the best effect.

Repeat Prescription Service

As well as dispensing NHS prescriptions we also offer a repeat prescription collection service and provide a free delivery service on request, 7 days a week to people who are unable to collect their medication from Medina Chemist.

Emergency Contraception

If you’ve had unprotected sex in the last five days, we can prescribe the morning after pill for you.

Nursing Homes (Content To come)

We help many of our customers to deal with incontinence, which is a very common healthcare matter.

We stock a wide range of products including pads, pants, liners and protectors. 
We can order any of the above products on your behalf, if there is anything else you need which is not on this list please just ask a member of staff.

Our Pharmacist can advise you on the different possible ways you might be able to reduce the symptoms and manage the effects of incontinence.

NHS New Medicine Service

When you are prescribed a new medicine to treat a long-term condition for the first time our pharmacist will support you to use your medicine safely and to best effect. This service is only available to people using certain medicines and our pharmacist will give you details.

Pharmacy First Minor Ailments Scheme

Our pharmacist can help you with minor ailments such as head lice, athletes foot, sore throat, diarrhoea, teething problems, threadworms, haemorrhoids, warts/verrucas, vaginal thrush, fever, earache, conjunctivitis, constipation, insect bites/stings and much more. They will assess your needs, give you advice, suggest medicines if appropriate, and refer you to a GP if necessary. When our pharmacist provides medicines as part of a minor ailment scheme, you get the medicines on the NHS.

Sexual Health Services

We offer a range of services relating to sexual health including help for erectile dysfunction, contraception and much more, please ask for full details.

Flu Vaccination Services

If you fall into one of the clinical risk groups who are advised to have the flu jab, we may be able to provide a free NHS jab (without a referral from your GP)

The eligible groups for 2019/2020 are:

All people aged 65 years and over (including those becoming age 65 years by 31st March 2020)

People aged between 18 and 64 years of age with one or more of the following medical conditions;

Chronic (long term) respiratory disease, such as severe asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disorders or bronchitis.

Chronic heart disease, such as heart failure.

Chronic kidney disease at stage three, four or five.

Chronic liver disease.

Chronic neurological disease, such as Parkinson’s disease or Motor Neurone disease, or learning disabilities.

Diabetes.

Immunosuppression, a weakened immune system due to disease.

Asplenia or splendic disfuntion.

Morbid obesity.

Aged 18 or over living in long-stay residential care homes or other long stay facilities.

Social care workers.

Hospice workers.

Carers aged 18 or over.

Household contacts of immunocompromised individuals who are aged 18 or over.

An appointment is not necessary for this service.

Disposal Of Unwanted Medicines

Please return all unwanted medicines to us and we will dispose of them safely for you.

Emergency Supply Service

If you need one of your regular medicines in an emergency and you are unable to contact your doctor, we may be able to help.

We must stress this can only be done in genuine emergencies and may incur a charge.

Please note that written consent must be obtained prior to any of the above services being carried out.
